Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies tailored to individual needs. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while ensuring proper aseptic technique and infection control protocols. Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance with HIPAA regulations, and proper medical coding. Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to infection control standards, including sterilization of instruments and use of personal protective equipment. Requirements Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations. Proficiency with dental software systems such as Softdent or Patterson Imaging for charting and record keeping. Experience in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable, with the ability to work effectively with children and their families. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures. Demonstrated ability in chairside assisting, patient care, and patient assessment within general or pediatric dentistry settings. Excellent communication skills to educate patients clearly about treatment plans and oral health practices.
