Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to assess patient health status. Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort. Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Conduct medical imaging procedures like X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Review and update medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Assist with patient assessments, documentation review, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation. Strong knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and dental assisting procedures. Experience using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing patient records efficiently. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically across diverse age groups including pediatrics.
