Responsibilities Assist orthodontists during patient procedures, including bracket/attachment placement, adjustments, and appliance fittings Prepare treatment chairs with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques Take and digitally upload dental X-rays, including panoramic and 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cloud9, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations Provide patient education on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene best practices tailored to adult and pediatric orthodontic patients Support four-handed dentistry by efficiently passing instruments and managing clinical flow to maximize productivity Maintain infection control standards by adhering to sterilization protocols and proper handling of medical imaging tools and dental supplies Take paid On-Call approximately 1x per 3 months (which includes possible phone calls and/or patient visits to help avoid pain during weekends and holidays) Qualifications Proven experience as a dental assistant with a focus on orthodontics or general dentistry preferred Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures Proficiency in EMR systems such as Cloud9 Ability to operate X-ray machines safely while following radiation safety guidelines Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques within a dental clinic setting Excellent communication skills is advantageous for patient interactions Certification in dental assisting or related training are beneficial Join us in delivering outstanding orthodontic care by supporting our team with your expertise in chairside assisting.
