Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional chairside assistance, ensure infection control, and support the overall workflow of the clinic. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing advanced dental technology and fostering patient comfort. Prior experience with EMR systems such as Open Dental is preferred, but not required along with knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in delivering high-quality dental care with children in our clinic. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during various pediatric treatments. Procedures including restorations, extractions, and exams. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging using 3D scanners or traditional techniques Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and adhere to OSHA standards Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions Support four-handed dentistry to enhance efficiency during procedures . Skills (preferred not required) Proficiency with EMR systems including Open Dental or similar platforms Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care Experience with chairside assisting across various specialties like general dentistry, pediatrics, prosthodontics, and endodontics Skilled in taking X-rays and operating medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic technique Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatric patients Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Knowledge of dental assisting best practices including vital signs measurement and medical documentation Our practice values professionalism, compassion, and continuous learning.
