Duties Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque, tartar, and stains. Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist the dentist during procedures such as examinations, restorations, and pediatric dentistry treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while ensuring proper infection control and aseptic techniques are maintained. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their overall health. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, medical coding, and review of documentation for completeness. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials. Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Experience working with pediatric dentistry patients is highly desirable. Ability to perform chairside assisting effectively while maintaining a compassionate approach to patient care. Excellent communication skills to educate patients clearly about their oral health needs. Knowledge of medical records management and medical coding practices related to dental care.
