Duties Greet patients warmly upon arrival, verify insurance information, and assist with patient intake processes. Schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring optimal clinic flow. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance claims processing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including documentation review and coding using ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT coding standards. Assist dentists during procedures by preparing instruments, taking x-rays, and ensuring patient comfort. Manage front desk responsibilities including answering multi-line phones with professional phone etiquette, managing patient inquiries, and handling appointment confirmations. Support medical billing and collections efforts through accurate data entry and follow-up on outstanding accounts in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Keep the clinic organized by filing medical records, managing electronic health records (EHR systems), and maintaining office supplies. Ensure compliance with health information management standards and assist in documentation review for accuracy and completeness. Skills Proven experience in dental office settings or clinics with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical administrative support. Proficiency in dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with EMR systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth is highly desirable. Skilled in medical coding including ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT coding to ensure accurate billing and documentation review. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and multi-line phone system handling. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing). Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times. Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations. Ability to manage medical scheduling efficiently while maintaining a friendly demeanor at the front desk. Experience with insurance verification processes and Medicare/Medicaid billing procedures is beneficial.
