Responsibilities Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments. Prepare treatment rooms with sterile instruments and materials following strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced equipment such as digital X-ray systems and 3D scanners to ensure accurate diagnosis. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic while maintaining HIPAA compliance for patient privacy. Support patients by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and ensuring their comfort throughout visits. Handle administrative duties including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical documentation and records. Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and assist with billing processes. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry practices. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control, aseptic technique, and taking X-rays. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with medical imaging software is a plus. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is highly desirable along with experience supporting pediatric patients. Ability to interpret dental terminology, medical terminology, and understand anatomy for accurate assistance during procedures. Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; additional certifications in medical documentation or medical coding are advantageous.
