Dental Hygienist - American Heritage Dentistry, PLLC - Hollis Center, ME

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform dental cleanings, and assist in maintaining a smooth clinical operation. Experience with EMR systems and pediatric dentistry is preferred, and familiarity with dental cloud-based software, such as Archy, is desirable. Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, while ensuring patient comfort and safety Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current health status Assist with chairside procedures such as imaging, coding, and documentation review Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations Support infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures Collaborate with dentists during procedures involving general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or specialized treatments like four-handed dentistry Monitor vital signs and recognize signs of medical emergencies or abnormalities during appointments Ensure the clinical environment adheres to all safety standards, including infection control and OSHA guidelines Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations Preferred experience in dental office settings within a dental clinic or similar healthcare environment, but we are willing to hire a brand new hygienist out of school. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or EMR systems for documentation and records management. (Training available) Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques Familiarity with pediatric dentistry, imaging, vital signs monitoring, and chairside assisting techniques Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, medical coding, and documentation review processes Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Certification or experience in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry is a plus Join our team to make a positive impact on patients' oral health through compassionate care and professional expertise.
