Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional patient care, ensuring efficient office operations, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. Prior experience with EMR systems such Open Dental, Dental Intel is highly valued. The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical documentation, and infection control protocols. Responsibilities Assist dentists during various procedures including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy Record vital signs and medical history, updating electronic health records accurately using EMR systems such as Open Dental, Dental Intel Manage medical imaging documentation and ensure proper coding for procedures in compliance with medical documentation standards Provide patient education on oral health care and post-treatment instructions Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and supporting the dental receptionist role when needed Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following OSHA guidelines and infection control protocols Support pediatric dentistry procedures when applicable, demonstrating patience and understanding for young patients’ needs Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting; familiarity with general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics preferred Proficiency with EMR systems including Open Dental, Dental Intel or similar platforms Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices Ability to operate dental X-ray equipment safely and effectively; certification in radiography preferred Strong understanding of aseptic technique and sterilization procedures Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages including pediatrics Ability to work efficiently in a team environment supporting dentists during complex procedures such as vital signs monitoring and medical imaging Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times Certification in dental assisting or equivalent training is required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or 3D scanner operation are advantageous Ability to fabricate temporary crowns Ability to take impressions under dentist guidance Spanish speaking preferred Join our team to provide outstanding dental care while advancing your career in a supportive environment committed to excellence.
