Duties Perform comprehensive dental hygiene procedures including prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to ensure safe and effective treatment. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve workflow efficiency. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting. Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing purposes. Hands-on experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient record management. Strong knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and dental assisting procedures. Ability to perform chairside assisting seamlessly while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills.
