DENTAL ASSISTANT JOB SUMMARY â TRENTON COMMUNITY CLINIC Purpose The Dental Assistant will be responsible for providing hands-on support to the Dental professionals of the Trenton Community Clinic under the direct supervision of the Dentist. This position assumes responsibilities in providing quality care and patient services in accordance with current clinical standards, policies and procedures, while providing a commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service. This position will be a temporary, full-time position, Monday â Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Responsibilities Promotes an organizational culture that embraces the values of respect, caring, support, effective communication, teamwork, collaboration, accountability, and responsibility; and works with all staff to create and maintain a workplace environment reflective of such values Apply topical medications to oral tissues Set up for dental X-Rays Assist with fillings, crown preps, cementing crowns, post & core preps and extracts Clean and disinfect operatory after each patient Review procedure consent forms with patients and have them sign the forms Prepares and sterilizes instruments and equipment Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment Prepare treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols Prepare patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient Provide instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments Provide materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols Ensure operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies Conserve dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Utilizes clinic resources appropriately and adheres to all guidelines, policies and procedures Adheres too, and upholds HIPAA regulations, requirements and trainings Participates in scheduled department meetings and clinical meetings as required and requested Additional responsibilities may be assigned as appropriate, this summary is not considered to encompass all responsibilities Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, talk and hear Frequently required to sit and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms. Fine motor skills Visual acuity Qualifications High school diploma or GED Non-registered Dental Assistant, willing and able to receive on-the-job training; ND Dental Board Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) preferred, but not required Must be dependable, punctual, relate well with others and able to meet deadlines Must be able to meet, greet and comfort patients Must be a quick learner and willing to take direction as required Friendly and professional bedside manner Ability to successfully pass all pre-employment requirements including a drug/alcohol test and background investigation.
