Dental Assistant Instructor - Compu-Med Vocational Careers - Dallas, TX

Compu-Med Vocational Careers is seeking to hire 2 qualified Dental Assistant instructors. Classes are held from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Monday - Thursday and 5 pm - 10 pm Monday - Thursday. Responsibilities : Teaching program courses as needed according to specified learning outcomes; academic advising and career related counseling for students. Assisting with the coordination of externship sites, including student placement and performance assessment; developing community contacts and chairing advisory board meetings. Monitoring student retention and identifying and assist at-risk students; maintaining competency and currency in the field and healthcare research, trends, issues, and practices. Recommend program equipment, supplies, library materials, textbooks, and other items for purchase and use, monitor the safety and quality of instructional materials. Recommending the purchasing of supplies and equipment. Teach any assigned courses and act as a substitute teacher as needed. Manage special projects as formally assigned by the Campus Director (including but not limited to new student orientation programs and open houses, assistance with accreditation preparation, campus events and supervision of staff). Actively engage in retention activities including documented communication with both students and administration regarding attendance and progress. Coordinate and establish externship sites, monitor student placement and performance at externship sites. Chair Advisory Board meetings at least once a year, and develop community contacts that can assist with job placement, externship site set up, community involvement, and/or student orientation. Attend regularly scheduled program meetings, academic in-service workshops, and institute-wide meetings. Adhere to publicly support academic policies and procedures, including but not limited to the faculty handbook and catalog. Maintain active and current license, certifications, and professional development. Respond to student questions and concerns on a timely basis. Attend graduation ceremonies. Qualifications Associate Degree required Possess a minimum of three (3) years employed as a Dental Assistant or equivalent. Credentialed as a Dental Assistant or equivalent.
