Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all tools and materials are prepared and sterilized according to aseptic technique standards. Operate and maintain dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices while adhering to safety protocols. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment details in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Take high-quality X-rays and other medical images while maintaining patient comfort and safety. Support front desk operations by acting as a dental receptionistâanswering patient inquiries, scheduling appointments, and managing medical documentation efficiently. Implement infection control procedures to uphold the clinicâs hygiene standards and prevent cross-contamination. Provide chairside assistance with a focus on four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and reduce procedure time. Assist in educating patients about treatment plans using clear dental terminology and ensuring they understand post-treatment care instructions. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practices. Familiarity with dental assisting procedures including taking vital signs, medical coding for billing purposes, and managing medical records is essential. Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Epic is required; experience with Eaglesoft is a plus. Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, anatomy relevant to dentistry, and dental terminology is necessary for success in this role. Experience with specialized areas such as prosthodontics or endodontics will be advantageous but not mandatory. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security is critical.
