Permanent Dental Receptionist / Front Desk Job in Bellingham, WA

Overview We are seeking a professional and organized Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, manage appointment scheduling, handle administrative tasks, and ensure a smooth patient flow. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical office systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and billing processes. Prior experience in dental office management or clinic experience is highly preferred. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. Duties Greet patients warmly and provide exceptional front desk customer service Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using EMR systems such Dentrix Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures Collect payments and process medical billing using CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, and medical collection protocols Manage patient records and ensure accurate documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette Maintain patient files, update health information management records, and ensure confidentiality of medical records Assist with intake procedures and facilitate patient check-in/out processes Support office management tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and documentation review Coordinate with clinical staff to support care plans and treatment scheduling Utilize computer skills in Microsoft Office applications to generate reports and manage office documentation Requirements Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist; clinic or dental office experience highly preferred Familiarity with Dentrix Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and health information management standards Experience with insurance verification processes and medical billing procedures including Medicare and Medicaid protocols Strong clerical skills including filing, data entry, typing (including 10 key typing), and document management Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and confidentiality requirements in healthcare settings Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with dental practice management software such as Dentrix This position offers an opportunity to be an integral part of a dedicated healthcare team committed to providing outstanding patient care.
