Duties Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and equipment efficiently. Perform chairside assisting with precision, including taking vital signs, medical imaging, and handling dental instruments with aseptic technique. Operate electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft to accurately document patient information, treatment notes, and medical history. Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance details, and updating medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Take high-quality X-rays and utilize advanced imaging tools like 3D scanners to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures and knowledge of anatomy to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Support pediatric dentistry procedures by creating a friendly atmosphere for young patients and understanding pediatric-specific dental terminology. Assist with complex procedures across various specialties such as prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry. Help with administrative tasks including answering the dental receptionist phone line, managing medical records, and supporting medical coding processes for billing purposes. Ensure all clinical areas are organized, stocked with supplies, and maintained according to infection control protocols. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting; experience with dental assisting is highly preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners confidently. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is a plus; experience working with children is highly valued. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members including dental receptionists and hygienists. Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
