Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dental team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of dental procedures, infection control, and medical documentation, with the ability to provide exceptional chairside assistance. This role involves supporting general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures while ensuring patient comfort and safety. The EFDA will play a vital role in maintaining efficient clinic operations and delivering high-quality dental care. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, prosthodontic, and endodontic treatments Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow efficiency Take and develop X-rays and other medical imaging as needed, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control standards Record vital signs, medical history, and other patient information accurately in electronic health records (EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic) Manage medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality Operate 3D scanners and other advanced dental technology to support diagnosis and treatment planning Maintain clinical supplies and equipment, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness at all times Educate patients on post-treatment care and answer questions regarding procedures or dental terminology Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent patient experiences Skills Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic; experience with medical coding and medical records management is a plus Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and medical imaging techniques including X-ray technology Ability to perform vital signs assessment and utilize 3D scanners effectively Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages including pediatrics Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality is maintained at all times Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail This position offers an opportunity to be part of a dedicated dental team committed to providing exceptional patient care through advanced clinical skills and compassionate service.
