Permanent Dental Receptionist / Front Desk Job in Elmhurst, NY

Part time position as a dental receptionist. Must be available to work Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday. Pay will depend on experience and skill set. Job Overview We are seeking a highly organized and professional Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical office management systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and terminology. The Dental Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering exceptional patient service. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software such as Open dental Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid processing Collect payments and process billing using medical billing systems Maintain accurate patient records within EMR/EHR system Review documentation for completeness and accuracy in compliance with HIPAA regulations Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, managing appointment inquiries and patient questions Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating medical histories Manage front desk operations including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and office management tasks Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards regarding protected health information (PHI) Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure seamless clinic workflow Skills Proven experience in a dental environment with knowledge of dental terminology and clinic operations Proficiency with dental software such as Open dental Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with multi-line phone systems Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment Outstanding communication skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient confidentiality and data security Ability to handle administrative support tasks such as filing, documentation review, and office management effectively Prior dental office experience or clinic experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided for specific software systems Join our team to provide exceptional administrative support in a professional dental setting.
