Responsibilities Assist dentist during a variety of dental procedures Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Take and develop digital X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support patients by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and assisting with medical documentation and records management. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and relaxation. Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment while following strict infection control standards to prevent cross-contamination. Collaborate with the dental team through four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during chairside assisting. Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical coding for billing purposes. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred Proficiency in dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical documentation and patient privacy is essential. Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry, and medical terminology will ensure success in this role. Experience with digital X-ray systems is advantageous. Strong understanding of dental terminology combined with excellent communication skills to support both patients and team members effectively. Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in medical records management.
