Permanent Dental Hygienist Job in Garden City, NY

Job Summary Dental Hygienist needed for Mondays/Tuesdays. We are a fee for service, 1 patient per 1 hour, quality over quantity, relationship driven (not money driven) office. I'm looking for someone long term, who can potentially do more days as we grow. I care about your caring personality and attitude over anything else you bring to the table. You will work hard and have a good time at this office at the same time as everyone you work with is super awesome. Duties Review patientsâ medical and dental histories Take and record vital signs as needed Perform oral cancer and head/neck screenings Examine teeth and gums for signs of disease or abnormalities Take, develop, and interpret dental radiographs (Xârays) Remove plaque, calculus (tartar), and stains from teeth (scaling) Polish teeth and remove surface stains Perform root planing and periodontal (gum) maintenance procedures Apply preventive materials such as fluoride and sealants Provide patient education on oral hygiene and home care techniques Give dietary counseling related to oral health (e.g., sugar intake, acidity) Educate patients about periodontal disease and caries (cavities) prevention Document clinical findings, treatment provided, and recommendations Assist in developing individualized care and treatment plans with the dentist Maintain infection control and sterilization of instruments and operatory Requirements Valid Dental Hygiene license with current state certification. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments; experience with pediatric patients is a plus. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards. Familiarity with vital signs monitoring, medical imaging procedures, and medical coding for billing purposes. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively across diverse age groups including pediatrics. Join us in creating healthier smiles!
