Overview We are seeking a skilled Hygiene Dental Assistant to support our dental team in delivering high-quality preventive and restorative care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dental assisting, with expertise in infection control, patient management, and dental procedures. This paid position offers an opportunity to grow within a dynamic practice focused on building lasting relationships with patients. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following strict aseptic techniques to ensure infection control standards are met. Assist the dentist during hygiene procedures, including scaling, polishing, and applying fluoride treatments. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Record accurate medical and dental histories, vital signs, and treatment notes in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable. Manage patient flow efficiently by coordinating appointments and assisting with front desk duties as a dental receptionist when needed. Maintain detailed medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Skills Proficiency in EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic setting. Experience with dental radiography (X-ray) techniques and operation of 3D scanners or other medical imaging devices. Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and procedures across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during four-handed dentistry sessions while maintaining a positive patient experience. Understanding of medical coding, medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and medical documentation standards. Strong organizational skills combined with excellent communication abilities to support both clinical operations and patient interactions.
