Position Description Performs specified healthcare and administrative duties and assists the doctor in administering care and treatment to patients, to facilitate smooth flow of patient visits and practice processes. Position Responsibilities · Welcomes patients by warmly greeting them, in person or on the telephone. · Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment. · Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment. · Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; preparing patients for and taking digital impressions, CT, ultrasound or other images; scribing notes for doctors. · Educates patients by providing medication, diet information and other instructions and answering questions. · Completes detailed notes and records, by ensuring patient examination notes, treatment details, and test results are complete and uploaded to patient chart. · Adjusts or polishes orthotics, as necessary. · Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential in accordance with HIPAA. · Completes projects and additional duties as assigned. · Continues to build skills and responsibilities as designated by practice needs. Required Qualifications · High school diploma or a GED; · An understanding of physician's medical notes and medical terminology and EMR; · A great communicator, with exceptional writing and verbal skills; · Prioritize assignments, multitask and meet deadlines as needed; · Attention to detail, and being able to take accurate notes with efficiency; · Ability to project a professional image; · Exceptional customer service and teamwork; · Great attitude, in all circumstances. Preferred Qualifications · Associates degree; · Dental Assistant certification, with a DANB Certificate · Minimum, One (1) yearsâ or more experience as Dental Assistant; · Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements; · Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has prior experience; · Ability to work with minimal supervision.
