Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Portland, OR
Overview We are seeking a skilled dental assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the dental team in various clinical and administrative tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. EFDA preferred but not necessary. Spanish or Vietnamese language skills a plus. Duties - Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, ensuring that patients are comfortable and informed throughout their visit. - Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available. - Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed, adhering to safety protocols. - Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions. - Schedule appointments and manage patient flow to optimize office efficiency. - Handle administrative tasks such as billing, medical coding, and insurance verification when necessary. - Assist in general dentistry procedures with a focus on creating a welcoming environment for patients. - Support treatments by preparing materials and assisting the dentist as required. Requirements - Previous experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate. - Knowledge of medical terminology related to dentistry is essential. - Familiarity with dental software systems such as Practice Web or Open Dental is advantageous. - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages. - Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining a positive attitude under pressure. - Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
