PURPOSE OF THE JOB: We are seeking a highly skilled and professional Orthodontic Dental Assistant to support our orthodontic team in delivering exceptional patient care. This role involves preparing treatment rooms, ensuring the availability of supplies, and assisting orthodontists with various procedures. The Orthodontic Dental Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of our practice, contributing to a positive patient experience. RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare treatment rooms for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols, ensuring a clean and organized environment. Ensure sufficient supplies in the treatment rooms at the end of the day, maintaining inventory and restocking as needed. Review schedules and prepare daily activities for all doctors they support, ensuring smooth operations and optimal patient flow. Ensure proper supply of equipment and materials by stocking operatories appropriately and preparing them for dental treatments. Provide instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering all necessary instruments to the treatment area, positioning instruments for the orthodontist's access, suctioning, and passing instruments during procedures. Placing fixed or removable orthodontic impressions and fixed appliances. Fill out exam notes as dictated by the orthodontist and enter treatment plans into the system accurately. Ensure the operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements. Ability to assist the orthodontist with managing medical emergencies; maintaining CPR certification where required. Uphold office policies including HIPAA and OSHA regulations, ensuring compliance and maintaining patient confidentiality. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, supporting colleagues and fostering a collaborative work environment. Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic practice setting. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required. Completion of a Dental Assisting Program is required with expanded functions, showcasing a commitment to professional development. Proven experience working in a dental office, particularly in orthodontics, is highly advantageous. Sound knowledge of dental terminology and orthodontic procedures. Proficiency in dental practice management software, such as Dentrix, ensuring efficient data entry and record management. Working knowledge of general administrative practices, supporting the smooth operation of the practice. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitating clear and professional interactions with patients and staff. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks. Excellent customer service skills, contributing to positive patient experience and satisfaction.
