Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly following infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including restorations, root canals, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments. Provide excellent dental reception services by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow efficiently. Support the use of advanced technology like 3D scanners and digital X-ray equipment to enhance diagnostic capabilities. Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment adhering to infection control standards and OSHA guidelines for safety. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Familiarity with EMR systems, medical coding, HIPAA compliance, and medical terminology essential for accurate recordkeeping. Ability to perform chairside assisting including taking X-rays, vital signs, and supporting various dental specialties like endodontics or prosthodontics. Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry along with infection control practices and aseptic techniques. Experience working with pediatric patients is highly desirable; certification in pediatric dentistry is a plus. Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist or in patient interaction roles are preferred. Ability to operate dental technology such as 3D scanners and digital imaging tools confidently.
