Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will support orthodontists in delivering exceptional patient care by providing chairside assistance, managing patient records, and ensuring smooth clinical operations. Responsibilities Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment following strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Take dental X-rays and medical imaging, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records using orthodontic software ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry needs. Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and maintaining organized medical documentation. Skills Proficiency in ortho software for accurate record keeping. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and understanding of pediatric-specific needs in dental care is a plus. Ability to operate dental X-ray machines safely while adhering to radiation safety standards; familiarity with 3D scanners is a must. Skilled in chairside assisting Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to dental records management and medical documentation requirements. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and coordinate with the dental team. Ability to handle medical records accurately while maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards; experience with medical coding is advantageous.
