Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary habits, and preventive care strategies to promote lifelong oral health. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Open Dental, Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and secure handling of all medical records and documentation review processes. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments, with a strong understanding of dental terminology and anatomy knowledge. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and record keeping. Knowledge of infection control standards, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is a plus, along with experience in dental office or clinic settings. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical records management for comprehensive patient assessment.
