Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dental team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional chairside assistance during orthodontic procedures, support patient care, and ensure smooth clinic operations. This role requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and orthodontic techniques, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient experiences in a fast-paced environment. Looking for an assistant with an active OA license, OA experiences, inventory check experience, and works well with a team. The opportunity is available for part-time (3 days a week) or full time (4-5 days a week). Looking for availability as our ortho days are on Wednesdays, Fridays and at least one Saturday a month and can add more days. Please email: sarahborghei@hotmail.com for further information Responsibilities Assist orthodontists during various procedures including bracket placement, adjustments, and appliance fittings using four-handed dentistry techniques Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained Take and develop dental X-rays, including pano and ceph Record information accurately in electronic medical records (EMR systems) in Dentrix Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations Provide patient education on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene instructions Assist with administrative duties such as dental reception tasks when needed, including verifying insurance information and updating medical records Maintain inventory of dental supplies and sterilize instruments according to infection control protocols Support pediatric dentistry procedures when applicable and adapt communication styles for pediatric patients Skills Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for documentation and scheduling Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security Experience with dental imaging techniques including X-ray and 3D scanning technology Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and general dentistry practices Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on orthodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic technique in a dental clinic setting Ability to operate dental equipment efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient safety and comfort Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about treatment plans and oral health care Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment including dental reception duties when necessary This position offers an engaging opportunity for motivated individuals passionate about orthodontics and patient care.
