SUMMARY: Demonstrates Christ-like behavior and attitude in all job duties and responsibilities. Provides direct supervision to dental assistants and registered dental assistants. Maintains uniform standards for dental clinic operations. Assists dentists with patients as needed. Maintains dental supplies and equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include: Oversees the day to day dental operations including ensuring adequate staffing, lunch and breaks are taken in accordance with policy, personnel oversight (hiring, conducting performance appraisal and disciplining when appropriate), and ensures smooth workflows for patients/staff. Provides education to clinical staff on workflows, policy and procedure changes, new equipment. Ensures proper documentation is conducted by all clinical support staff in the electronic health and dental records in a timely manner. Responsible for training of staff on eClinicalWorks. Collaborates with the Dental Director on the preparation of external audits, assists with facility review, chart review and personnel review. Implements corrective action plans as result of any findings. Assists Dental Director with long term planning and outlook for the organization, cost analysis, and optimizing the practice. Responsible for vendor statement review and preparation of check requests. Responsible for ordering requests of dental and office supplies necessary to implement high quality preventive care. Lead Dental Assistant (essential duties and responsibilities): Oversees that assistants are trained and performing required housekeeping duties. Coordinates recruitment, orientation, and scheduling of volunteer dentists. Assists dentists with patients during clinic sessions. Provides dental hygiene education to patients in individual and/or group settings. Prepares dental room prior to clinic sessions. Enters patient information into the computer. Maintains proper specifications for equipment (e.g. conduct required autoclave tests). Maintains adequate supply of all dental supplies and equipment. Cleans and sterilize instruments in between patients and at the end of clinic sessions. Assists in networking with outside agencies to obtain dental services that cannot be provided at the clinic. Other duties may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Current Registered Dental Assistant certificate, Dental Radiography certificate. High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of filing procedures and practices. One year supervisory experience preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Fluency in English a must; bilingual Spanish a plus. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
