Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of dental assisting procedures, with the ability to perform expanded functions that enhance patient care and clinic efficiency. In this role, you will support dentists in delivering high-quality general and specialized dental treatments, ensuring compliance with safety standards and fostering a welcoming environment for patients. Your expertise in dental terminology, medical documentation, and infection control will be vital to maintaining the clinicâs excellence. Duties Assist dentists during various procedures, including prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing advanced chairside assisting techniques. Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, applying sealants, and taking precise X-rays using digital imaging systems. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while ensuring HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality. Prepare treatment rooms with proper aseptic techniques and maintain infection control standards throughout all procedures. Take vital signs and monitor patient comfort before, during, and after treatments to ensure safety and well-being. Operate 3D scanners and other medical imaging equipment to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Support administrative tasks including dental receptionist duties, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow efficiently. Maintain thorough knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to ensure accurate documentation of procedures and medical records. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on expanded functions within a general or pediatric dentistry setting. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, along with experience using Epic or similar medical documentation platforms. Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures in a dental clinic environment. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental procedures. Experience performing X-ray imaging, including digital radiography and 3D scanning technologies. Background in pediatric dentistry is preferred; familiarity with pediatric-specific protocols is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of patient care.
