Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to our patients, assisting with various procedures, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, including chairside assisting for general dentistry, endodontics, and prosthodontics. Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring all instruments are sterilized and ready for use while adhering to infection control protocols. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed, utilizing knowledge of medical imaging techniques. Record patient medical history and vital signs accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Provide support in dentistry by creating a welcoming environment for young patients and their families. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions. Manage appointment scheduling and assist with front desk duties as needed, including medical documentation and coding. Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality. Qualifications Previous experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred. Proficiency in using EMR systems; familiarity with Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is a plus. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques is essential. Experience with four-handed dentistry techniques and 3D scanning technology is advantageous. Understanding of infection control protocols and procedures related to dental practice. Ability to perform basic medical coding and documentation accurately. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients of all ages. Certification in radiography or willingness to obtain certification if required by state law.
