Responsibilities Assist pediatric dentists during various dental procedures, including exams, cleanings, restorations, and orthodontic treatments, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments and materials, maintaining strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations Take and develop dental X-rays and other medical imaging to support accurate diagnoses while ensuring patient safety through proper vital signs monitoring and radiation safety protocols Manage electronic medical records (Dentrix) to document treatment details accurately and securely Educate young patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices, dental terminology, and post-treatment care to promote ongoing oral health Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and assisting with patient check-in/out processes Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by adhering to infection control guidelines and sterilization procedures Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Assistant with certification in pediatric dentistry preferred Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment, particularly with pediatric patients or in general dentistry settings Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; familiarity with medical coding and documentation standards (HIPAA compliance) is highly desirable Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices safely and effectively Skilled in chairside assisting techniques for various specialties such as endodontics, prosthodontics, and orthodontics within pediatric dentistry Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to children and their families while demonstrating patience and empathy Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform detailed procedures requiring fine motor skills, and lift or move equipment as needed Embark on a rewarding career where your expertise helps shape healthy smiles!
