Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to ensure optimal treatment planning. Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality during all aspects of care. Skills Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix Ascend for scheduling, documentation review, and record keeping. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with pediatric patients in a compassionate manner. Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on infection control, aseptic technique, and proper sterilization procedures. Ability to perform vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment accurately. Familiarity with general dentistry practices including documentation review, medical coding, and understanding of HIPAA standards. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate seamlessly with the dental team.
