Job Summary This position requires an assistant with a minimum of three full years of general practice dentistry assisting. Please do not apply if you have no dental assisting experience or just graduated from assisting school. We are seeking a team oriented dental assistant with chairside experience in all areas of dentistry. Pay will depend on skill level achieved. Duties Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, employing four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency. This includes knowing the steps of the procedures, the materials used during each step of each procedures, and being able to schedule the appropriate follow up appointments for correct amounts of time. Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment to maintain a safe and clean working environment. Equipment cleaning, monitoring, and maintenance will be required. Take and record vital signs, ensuring accurate documentation for patient records. Reviewing charts for treatment concerns and details for each day. Utilize dental terminology and dental documentation skills to maintain comprehensive medical records, manage lab orders, and treatment planning. Operate 3D scanners as needed for imaging and treatment planning. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-operative care, and treatment plans. The assistant may also have to do consultations with patients regarding treatment options covered in different treatment plans. This requires a practical knowledge of dental conditions, what each treatment is meant to accomplish, and the various options available to the patient to treat a condition. Manage treatment planning, appointment scheduling, patient flow, and follow-up communications to ensure an organized office environment . Collaborate with the dental team to provide exceptional patient experiences. Skills Proficient in medical terminology and dental terminology to facilitate effective communication within the practice. Experience in medical documentation systems for accurate record keeping. Strong understanding of dental assisting techniques, including four-handed dentistry practices. Ability to take vital signs accurately and efficiently. Familiarity with 3D scanning technology is a plus. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for managing medical records. Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with patients and team members. Knowledge of treatment progression for different dental conditions. NOTE FROM THE PRACTICE: We previously filled this position, but the person filling the position has since had a family health issue, and needs to stop working. She will continue helping our new hire to assimilate for an undetermined but limited period following hire date.
