Dental Hygienist - Southern Maine Dental - Biddeford, ME

Job Overview We are an independent general dentistry practice in Biddeford, Maine providing exemplary dental care, using state-of-the-art technology and proven methods, while always maintaining the human connection. Southern Maine Dental is a family practice that has been serving the Biddeford, Kennebunk, Saco and surrounding communities for over 40 years. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dental practice. The Dental Hygienist will have a full schedule from the first day and will work closely with the dental team to promote oral health and educate patients on proper dental care practices. There is the option to have a set hourly pay rate or salary based on a percentage of production. Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings and examinations, including scaling and polishing teeth. Assess patients' oral health by taking vital signs and reviewing medical records. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations. Assist in the administration of local anesthesia as needed. Maintain accurate patient records using Dentrix systems, documenting treatments and patient interactions. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment. Collaborate with dentist to develop treatment plans based on patient needs. Stay updated on dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and advancements in dental hygiene practices. Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in the state of Maine. Current CPR Certification Proficiency in using Dentrix or similar dental office management systems is preferred. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control procedures. Ability to take vital signs and assist with medical records management. Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about their oral health. A commitment to providing compassionate patient care in a team-oriented environment.
