Duties Assist the dentist during various procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly following infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, while maintaining proper radiation safety standards. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of patient histories, treatment plans, and medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support administrative tasks by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing medical documentation. Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging to assist with comprehensive patient evaluations. Maintain aseptic technique throughout all clinical procedures and ensure adherence to infection control standards. Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care instructions, and preventive oral health practices tailored for pediatric patients when necessary. Requirements Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or current Dental Assistant (DA) credential. Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with proficiency in general dentistry procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Ability to perform dental X-rays accurately and safely; experience with 3D scanners is a plus. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Experience assisting with pediatric dentistry procedures is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and hygienists. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently using four-handed dentistry techniques while maintaining high standards of patient comfort and safety.
