Responsibilities Assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and patient care items. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort. Manage patient records accurately using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Opendental while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Perform vital signs assessments and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed using aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating with the dental reception team. Provide pediatric dentistry support by engaging with young patients using gentle communication techniques and specialized pediatric procedures. Assist with medical imaging and other diagnostic tools to aid in treatment planning and case management. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to all infection prevention standards. Support four-handed dentistry practices to optimize efficiency and patient comfort during procedures. Skills Proficiency with Opendental for managing dental and medical records. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Experience with X-ray techniques, including digital imaging and 3D scanning technology. Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic techniques within a clinical setting. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently across multiple specialties such as prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times. Excellent communication skills suitable for working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics. Capable of handling administrative duties as a dental receptionist when needed. Understanding of medical coding practices related to dental procedures for accurate documentation. Experience in pediatrics is highly desirable for engaging young patients effectively while providing specialized care.
