Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, performing dental cleanings, and assisting with various clinical procedures. This role requires a thorough understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and patient assessment techniques. Experience with EMR systems, medical imaging, and pediatric dentistry is highly valued. The Dental Hygienist will work closely with our team to ensure a comfortable and efficient patient experience while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards. Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth and removing plaque, tartar, and stains using appropriate tools and techniques. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and reviewing medical histories to ensure safe treatment planning. Assist dentists during procedures such as restorations, extractions, and other general dentistry treatments through chairside assisting. Take and develop medical imaging (X-rays) while adhering to aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote overall oral health. Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Ensure infection control standards are upheld through proper sterilization of instruments and use of aseptic techniques. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness to support billing, coding, and compliance with medical records regulations. Stay current with dental terminology, medical coding updates, and best practices in pediatric dentistry and general dentistry. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a dental clinic or dental office setting is required. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is preferred. Experience working in pediatric dentistry or performing four-handed dentistry is a plus. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and HIPAA regulations is essential. Prior experience with medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and documentation review will be advantageous. Certification as a Dental Hygienist from an accredited program is mandatory; licensure must be current according to state requirements.
