Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Part Time Dental Assistant to join our Avon Dental Arts practice. The ideal candidate will support the delivery of high-quality patient care by assisting dentists during procedures, managing patient records, and ensuring a clean and organized clinical environment. This role offers flexible hours suitable for individuals passionate about healthcare and dental assisting, with opportunities to expand skills in pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry. Duties Assist dentists chairside during various dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, maintaining aseptic techniques and infection control standards Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed Record patient vital signs and medical history accurately using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic Manage patient check-in and check-out processes as a dental receptionist when needed Educate patients on dental procedures and post-treatment care using appropriate dental terminology Operate 3D scanners and other medical imaging equipment to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning Maintain detailed medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations Support the dental team with general clinic tasks, including sterilization, inventory management, and maintaining a clean clinical environment Demonstrate proficiency in four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during procedures Requirements Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for specific systems and procedures Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols is essential Ability to perform chairside assisting with competence in dental terminology and anatomy knowledge Experience with X-ray procedures and medical imaging techniques is a plus Strong understanding of general dentistry practices along with specialties such as pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics is advantageous Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate within a team environment Ability to handle sensitive medical documentation accurately and efficiently Certification or training in dental assisting is preferred but not required; willingness to learn new skills is essential This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about healthcare to develop their skills in a supportive environment while contributing to patient well-being.
