Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to ensure safe treatment planning. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to individual needs. Take and develop medical imaging (X-rays) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Review and update medical records accurately in Open Dental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor patient comfort throughout appointments, providing chairside assistance and managing patient anxiety effectively. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to oral health. Familiarity with Open Dental is a plus. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures essential for safe practice. Ability to perform vital signs assessment, medical imaging, and patient care with professionalism and attention to detail. Strong communication skills to educate patients effectively about dental health practices and treatment plans.
