Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform dental cleanings, and assist in maintaining a smooth clinical operation. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, patient assessment, and infection control protocols. Experience with EMR systems and dental office software such as OpenDental is preferred. The Dental Hygienist will work closely with the dental team to ensure optimal oral health outcomes for patients across general and pediatric dentistry settings. Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, and polishing to promote oral health. Conduct patient assessments including vital signs, medical history review, and dental examinations. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions. Assist with chairside procedures, including four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control standards. Review and update medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments, procedures, and medical coding. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to prevent cross-contamination. Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to patient records and scheduling within EMR systems like Open Dental. Collaborate with dentists on patient care plans, treatment progress, and documentation review. Skills Proficiency in dental software such as OpenDental, or other EMR systems. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control procedures. Experience in pediatric dentistry and pediatrics is highly desirable. Skilled in chairside assisting, medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and medical records management. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, medical coding, and documentation review processes. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations. Knowledge of aseptic techniques, infection prevention measures, and general dentistry practices. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
