Well-established periodontal specialty practice seeks a reliable, team-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our office one day per week (ideally Tuesdays). The position is ideal for a hygienist who enjoys working in a collaborative specialty environment and is comfortable being flexible when needed. Dental Hygienist duties revolve around conducting patient screenings, cleaning teeth and advising patients on oral health and preventative care. As a Dental Hygienist, you should be reliable and able to build trust with patients of all ages. A deep understanding of relevant health and safety regulations and a keen eye for oral diseases and anomalies is essential. Responsibilities Ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible before their examination Sterilize dental instruments properly Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history Identify conditions like gingivitis, periodontitis, caries Provide periodontal maintenance, scaling & root planing and preventive care (e.g. remove plaque, calculus, apply fluoride) Educate patients of all ages on proper teeth care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing/flossing techniques) Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures Take X-rays or dental impressions Maintain documentation and charts on each patient Monitor supplies Assisting the doctor when needed, including clinical support and room turnover Helping maintain a smooth, efficient flow of the schedule Skills/Qualifications Proven experience as Dental Hygienist In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA) Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment Outstanding communication skills A patient and friendly personality Attention to detail Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job Diploma in Dental Hygiene; License to deliver local anesthesia is a plus Valid license to practice in Florida Job Type: Part-time License/Certification: Registered Dental Hygienist (Required) Local Anesthesia Certification (Preferred) Work Location: In person
