Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, root planing and scaling, periodontal maintenance and applying fluoride treatments when appropriate to promote oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Take digital images such as X-rays, and intra-oral images ensuring proper positioning and clear diagnostic quality images. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and use of interproximal brushes and power toothbrushes when appropriate. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and office protocols. Follow infection control procedures using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials. Proficiency in dental software systems Dentrix for documentation and record keeping. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control standards. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients ensuring clarity and comfort throughout treatment.
