Virginia Biological Dentistry is a holistic, biological dental practice guided by a clear mission: to support whole-body health by addressing oral health at its root — with care aligned to each patient’s unique biology . We are a fee-for-service, patient-driven biological dental practice , which means hygiene here is never rushed, scripted for production, or insurance-directed. Every appointment is customized, giving our hygienists the time to connect, educate, and deliver meaningful care . As our practice continues to grow, we are seeking a second full-time hygienist (3 days/week availability) who resonates with a comfort-first, biological philosophy and wants to practice hygiene as a healing discipline — not a checklist. Compensation: $60–$70/hour, based on experience Schedule: Full-time, 3 days/week How Hygiene Is Practiced Here From the very first interaction, our approach is grounded in trust and patient autonomy . We meet patients where they are, without judgment, creating an environment where even anxious or overdue patients feel safe. Clear communication and patient control are central to every visit, allowing patients to relax and engage rather than brace for discomfort. Our hygiene model is biofilm-first and comfort-focused . We begin with Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) and warm water airflow , often described to patients as “a warm shower for your teeth before anything touches them.” Removing biofilm first dramatically reduces the need for scraping, increases comfort, and allows selective hand instrumentation to be more precise and ergonomic. Education replaces pressure. Conversations are structured around clarity — what we see, what it means, what we recommend, and what happens if nothing is done. Visuals, disclosing, and measurements guide the discussion so patients feel informed and empowered, never sold to. We also prioritize body-aware workflows , replacing instruments based on performance and ergonomics rather than a calendar, supporting the long-term health of our hygienists as much as our patients.
