Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment planning. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies tailored to their needs. Assist dentists during procedures such as examinations, restorations, and other general dentistry treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques. Operate dental equipment including medical imaging devices, intraoral cameras, and digital radiography systems while adhering to aseptic techniques. Manage documentation review, ensuring accurate recording of patient data, treatment notes, and medical coding for billing purposes. Uphold infection control protocols in compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain a sterile environment through proper sterilization procedures. Support the dental team by chairside assisting with a variety of procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout their visit. Maintain proficiency in dental terminology and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for seamless recordkeeping. Experience Prior experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is highly preferred, especially within pediatric dentistry or general dentistry environments. Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, infection control practices, and dental assisting techniques is essential. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with pediatric patients is a plus. Experience using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix enhances efficiency in documentation review and medical records management. Strong understanding of medical coding processes related to dental procedures ensures accurate billing and insurance claims processing.
