Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing procedures to maintain oral health. Conduct patient assessments including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Assist with chairside procedures such as four-handed dentistry and medical imaging. Document treatment notes accurately in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Maintain infection control standards using aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures. Review medical records and documentation for completeness and accuracy in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support pediatric dentistry procedures when applicable, ensuring a comfortable experience for young patients. Monitor patient vital signs during appointments and report any abnormalities to the dentist. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless patient flow and high-quality care delivery. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist. Proven experience in dental office settings, including general dentistry and pediatrics preferred. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar EMR systems. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and medical coding. Ability to perform chairside assisting tasks including four-handed dentistry techniques. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is a plus. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and proper medical records management. Experience with medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and documentation review is desirable.
