Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while ensuring proper infection control and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and preventive care strategies tailored to pediatric and adult patients. Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support the dental team with documentation review, medical coding, and maintaining detailed electronic medical records (EMR systems). Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental or pediatric dentistry setting. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and medical terminology. Experience performing vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment procedures. Familiarity with dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting and aseptic technique. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Prior exposure to EMR systems, documentation review processes, medical coding practices, and infection prevention standards is advantageous.
