Permanent Dental Receptionist / Front Desk Job in Flowood, MS

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our Dental Team! This role combines front desk administrative support with clinical assisting responsibilities, ensuring smooth daily operations and exceptional patient care. While the ideal candidate will possess strong medical and dental terminology knowledge, proficiency with various EMR and practice management systems, and excellent communication skills, we are willing to provide on the job training to the right person. Duties Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in/check-out processes using systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar EMR platforms Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance verification, and handle billing and collections including medical and dental claims using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding standards Schedule appointments efficiently utilizing dental office management software and coordinate patient flow Review and update patient records ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate documentation review Assist the dentist during clinical procedures, including preparing treatment rooms and sterilizing instruments Manage multi-line phone systems, answer inquiries professionally, and maintain excellent phone etiquette Collect payments, process payments through electronic health record systems like Meditech or Athenahealth, and manage medical billing tasks Maintain accurate filing of dental records, medical records, and other documentation in accordance with health information management standards Support administrative functions such as data entry, typing reports, filing documents, and managing office supplies Educate patients on treatment plans, post-operative care instructions, and answer general questions about procedures Experience Prior experience in a dental clinic or medical office setting is highly preferred, but not required Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft, Curve, or Dentrix is advantageous Knowledge of medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), insurance verification processes, and medical/dental billing procedures is helpful Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10-key), and familiarity with multi-line phone systems Bilingual abilities are desirable to effectively communicate with a diverse patient base, but not necessary Previous experience in front desk operations or medical administrative support is beneficial Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clerical experience in a healthcare setting This role is integral to providing outstanding patient care while maintaining efficient office operations.
