Part-time Dental Hygienist - - Austin, TX

Sonrisas Dental Center is a doctor-owned, non-corporate dental group founded in Austin, TX. As our practices grow we want to continue to provide exceptional care to all of our patients. We are looking for an energetic and compassionate hygienist to join our team. We have an opening in South Austin. For us customer service and patient satisfaction are our top priority. Our hygienist is responsible for : Perform duties in accordance with applicable Texas Occupations Code (Dental Practice Act) Laws and Rules & Regulations Pertaining to Registered Dental Hygienists Follow all verbal and written Hygienist Protocols and Procedures established by the Swish Hygiene Program Obtain dental and medical history and/or records from patient; ensure health history is updated for all returning patients at least annually Acquire blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and pulse oximetry recordings on all patients prior to treatment Actively strive to keep patients focused on optimal treatment while attending to their individual concerns and promoting the good qualities of the doctor Remove deposits and stains from teeth Complete diagnostic radiographs and intraoral pictures of patients as appropriate and requested Educate and counsel children and adults on oral health, plaque control, oral hygiene, and nutrition to assist with the prevention and control of dental caries and periodontal disease Instruct patients on pre- and post-operative care Document patient clinical notes in a timely manner Review and assist in receiving signed contracts Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment after each patient and on a routine basis; ensure each op is cleaned in compliance with ADA guidelines Maintain sharpness of instruments for effective removal of deposits Send necessary referrals to specialists as needed Review individual hygiene schedule to ensure necessary procedures are correctly scheduled for each patient Scheduling, pre-appoint patient re-care or perio-maintenance visits Assist team members if needed; view cross-training duties with a “team-first” mentality OTHER DUTIES Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES Candidates must possess a current Dental Hygiene License in the State of Texas, have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and be passionate about Dental Hygiene and the service you provide. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE A current Texas Registered Dental Hygienist license is required. No experience required.
