Position Summary The Biological Dental Assistant plays a vital role in supporting clinical care within a holistic dental practice. This position assists the dentist during procedures while upholding biological dentistry principles that prioritize whole-body health, biocompatible materials, minimally invasive techniques, and patient education. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and aligned with a wellness-focused approach to dentistry. Key Responsibilities Clinical Support Assist the dentist during biological dental procedures, including restorations, crown preparations, and safe amalgam removal Prepare treatment rooms following strict biological and infection control protocols Sterilize instruments and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment Take digital X-rays using low-radiation techniques (CBCT, if applicable) Assist with impressions, scans, and fabrication processes Familiarity with digital imaging technologies such as 3D scanners (iTero) and X-ray systems (DTX Studio) used in general dentistry or prosthodontics settings. Proficiency in using EMR system Open Dental for documentation and scheduling purposes. Biological Dentistry Protocols Follow safe mercury/amalgam removal protocols (SMART, IAOMT, or office-specific standards) Prepare and use biocompatible materials as directed Support ozone therapy, laser dentistry, PRF/PRP, and other holistic treatments (as trained) Maintain proper air filtration, suction, and protective measures during procedures Patient Care & Education Provide a calm, supportive experience for patients Educate patients on biological dental procedures, materials, and post-op care Answer basic questions regarding holistic treatment approaches and oral-systemic health Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after treatment Administrative & Team Support Accurately document clinical notes in the patient record Communicate effectively with front office and clinical team members Assist with inventory management of biological supplies and materials Participate in team meetings, training, and continuing education Qualifications Current Dental Assistant certification or license (per state requirements) CPR/BLS certification Experience in a biological, holistic, or integrative dental office preferred Knowledge of or willingness to learn biological dentistry principles Familiarity with digital imaging and charting software Strong communication and patient-centered care skills Skills & Attributes Passion for holistic health and wellness Detail-oriented with strong infection control awareness Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment Professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude Willingness to pursue ongoing education in biological dentistry Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift and move dental equipment and supplies Fine motor skills for chairside assisting Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 â 40.0 per week Benefits: 401(k) Health insurance Health savings account Paid time off Vision insurance Work Location: In person
