Permanent Dental Hygienist Job in Aurora, IL
Job Overview We are looking for temporary hygiene coverage thru the end June. Hours are Monday 9-6, Tuesday 9-6, Wednesday 9-5, Friday 9-5, and one Saturday a month. We can be flexible with hours/days for the right candidate. Our dental team provides exceptional patient care in a vibrant, patient-focused environment, and you will have full support in your role with a dedicated hygiene assistant. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to ensure safe and effective treatment plans Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies tailored to their needs Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside support, ensuring smooth workflow using four-handed dentistry techniques Take and interpret dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting treatment notes, patient responses, and procedural details in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and dental terminology standards Qualifications Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the respective state or region Proven experience in general dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred Proficiency with Open Dental dental software platform Strong knowledge of anatomy, dental terminology, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical records management, and documentation review Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about their oral health needs Knowledge of medical coding, HIPAA compliance, and medical terminology related to dental care Join us in creating healthier smiles through passionate patient care!
